Troubleshooting your cable modem
Before calling technical support, you may want to try powercycling your cable modem. Follow the steps below:
- Unplug the power cord from the back of your cable modem.
- Unplug the power from your router and/or VoIP. If you do not have these, skip to step 3.
- Shut down your computer.
- Wait at least three minutes, and plug the power back in on your cable modem only.
- Wait another 1-2 minutes, and then power up your router/VoIP (if you have one), then turn your computer on.
In most cases, this will resolve any connection issues you may have. If you are still unable to access the Internet, your computer may be misconfigured or have a firewall installed that is blocking your web browser from accessing the Internet.
